N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota SkillsUSA competition has chosen several teams to represent the state at the National Competition in June and some were selected from Jamestown.

According to Skills Adviser Deb Fischer, teams from around the state competed in different divisions. Teams are created based on their interest in different skilled areas and Fischer stated that Jamestown’s team had a focus in the categories they won.

Construction Build Team member Jared Schults helped outline some of the skills that they had to use in their competition.

Health Knowledge Bowl Team member Hannah James stated that this was the second time their team had been selected to compete at the national level.

The Health Knowledge Bowl team and the Construction Build team from Jamestown took gold in their competed area and will go on to represent North Dakota in their division. The team will travel to Louisville, Kentucky June 22nd through the 26th. Last year, over 6,000 contestants in 98 events participated in the national level.

The Health Knowledge Bowl Team consists of Cody Lutman, Marissa Drenth, Jessica Azure and Hannah James. The Construction Build Team consists of Logan Anderson, Mason Kurtz, Kelton Beedy, and Jared Schults.

A total of $11,000 must be raised in order to travel and compete and the teams are asking community members to support them. If interested in supporting the team or learning more about SkillsUSA, contact Deb Fischer or Chris Jahner at 701-252-8841.
