CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) A New Zealand man who’s biking across America is now in North Dakota heading west to Alaska.
Adam Glover made it to Valley City on Thursday, May 21, the 77th day of his journey. The 42 year-old tells KOVC Radio that he is crossing the country on his bike to raise awareness and money for the Asthma Foundation, a condition he has had since childhood.
Glover said one interesting experience was biking toward Pittsburgh, he went up one mountain and it started to snow, when he reached the top it was a blizzard.
He began the trip in New Zealand aboard a cargo ship earlier this year and hopped on his bike in Philadelphia on April 16. His two year trek will take him up to Alaska and eventually down the Pacific coast and on toward Argentina.
Glover rides about 60 miles a day, carrying spare parts for his bike, a tent and cooking utensils. He said the bike and gear weigh about 100 pounds.
The self employed carpenter said the idea for a long bike trek was hatched by a friend who dared him to do it back home in New Zealand.
Glover was interviewed by Chase Miller on KOVC radio talking about his bike riding experience.
