FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After a thrilling 13-12 win in eight innings against Grand Forks Central in the semifinals, the Valley City Hi-Liner softball team was looking to be crowned champs this afternoon in Grand Forks.

However, the West Fargo Packers had other plans in the EDC Championship game.

The Packers came out early scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, then added three runs in the fourth and five funs in the fifth.

The Hi-Liners could only muster 3 hits in the 10-0 loss against the Packers in five innings.

Valley City qualified for the state tournament as the #2 seed from the East. They’ll play against the #3 seed from the West in the Jamestown Blue Jays in the quarterfinal round at 6:45 on Thursday in Dickinson.

Madison McDaniel, Sadie Klingenberg and Tarryn Justesen were all named to the All-EDC Softball Team.
