(NewsDakota.com) After allowing just two hits to one of the premier teams in the Class B Southeast Region late last week, the Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team surrendered just three hits and earned another shutout against another top team; this time with a 2-0 victory at Kindred against Post 117 on Monday evening.

Michael Kelly threw the three hit shutout, which saw Oakes win their third Southeast Region game in a row to improve to 9-3. Kelly struck out four, and walked just two. 

Fletcher Andel took the lost for Post 117 (4-1 Southeast Region), despite striking out 10 batters. Oakes scored both of their runs in the sixth inning. Kaleb Sell scored on a one out RBI triple by Bryce Meehl, with Meehl scoring later in the inning via a throwing error. Sell and Meehl each registered two hits in the victory.

Post 36 and Post 117 are scheduled to meet again on Wednesday evening at Cummings Field in Oakes at 6 p.m. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com will start at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday.
