CITY (VCSU) – Valley City State University men’s basketball coach Jeff Kaminsky announced today the addition of Nygel Drury, a 6-foot-5 transfer forward from Kishwaukee College (Ill.)

Drury started 17 games last season at Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill. He played a key role in helping the Kougars to the 2015 Arrowhead Conference Championship and the 2015 NJCAA Region IV Championship. Drury helped Kishwaukee make the Elite Eight at the NJCAA National Tournament after posting 16 points and nine rebounds in a first round victory.

He signed his letter of intent this summer to continue his collegiate career at Valley City State University.

“We are excited to announce that Nygel Drury will be joining our program,” said Kaminsky. “He has experienced tremendous success on and off the court and played a significant role in a highly successful program at Kishwaukee College. With his skill, versatility, and leadership, I believe he makes an immediate impact in our program.”

A native of Madison, Wis., Drury played his high school ball at Madison La Follette High School. This season at Kishwaukee, Drury averaged 10 points and seven rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 72 percent on free throws.

“Nygel was a huge lift to our program, giving us a player with experience and skill to play both inside and on the perimeter,” said Rob Buss, Kishwaukee head coach. “He was a key player in both our Arrowhead Conference & Region IV Championships this year with his solid defense and mid-range shooting.”

Drury plans to study business while at Valley City State University. His parents are Theresa Drury and Aye Kung.

Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and a conference member of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA). Under Kaminsky’s guidance, the Vikings have won at least 20 games in four of the past eight seasons, and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament in 2013.
