A. Steckler, 78, of Sacramento, CA, passed away on July 21, 2015 in Sacramento.

Lucille Amelia Steckler was born on August 13, 1936, in Taylor, ND, the daughter of Julius and Amelia Steckler. She grew up on the family farm just outside of Jamestown, ND where they milked cows. She graduated from St. John’s Academy in 1955. After high school, Lucy worked at a few banks as a receptionist and secretary. She also worked at some restaurants and worked on taxes. Lucy loved to travel and made several trips to and from North Dakota and California. She called California home as she lived most of her adult life in the Sacramento area. She also liked to dance, bowl, read and shop. Lucy entered Sutter Oaks Nursing Home in Sacramento in 2005 after a stroke.

Lucy is survived by her brothers, Edmund, Larry, and Kenneth; sisters, Caroline (Jim) Askins, Frances (Melvin) Hennings, Janice (Donald) Anderson; and Marie (Tom) Shipp; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Julius and Amelia Steckler; brothers, Clarence, Jacob “Jake”, Alvin, and Emil; and sisters, Arlene Carter and Florence Cebula.

Mass of Christian Burial: 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2015 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, with Monsignor Jeffrey Wald officiating.

Visitation: None Scheduled. Arrangements are in the care of Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
