JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public School Board has set two community forums to discuss proposed expansions and renovations of elementary and middle schools, and the $19 million in levy bonds set for a special election.

According to Superintendent Rob Lech, the first phase of the project would address growth and improve air quality at each elementary building and the middle school. Options would include decommissioning Washington Elementary and increase the capacity of Louis L’Amour from 125 to 360 students. The proposals come after projects showed an increase to roughly 1,070 students by the 2019-2020 school year. Projected completion is estimated to be August 2017.

$1 million of the funds would go on to Roosevelt, Gussner, and Lincoln for renovation and the projected total costs will be roughly $18.62 million. There will be a $13 million second phase to follow that would include expansion to Gussner Elementary and additional renovations to Roosevelt and Lincoln.

Two community meetings for interested parties will be August 12th and September 17th at the Thompson Meeting Room at 7:00 PM both nights.
