N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota will have a new governor in 2016 after Governor Jack Dalrymple announced he will not be seeking re-election.

Dalrymple stated he and the First Lady will spend more time with their family. Dalrymple pointed out that it has been a privilege to serve his state as a state representative for 16 years, lieutenant governor for 10 years and governor for the past 5 years.

Bismarck News Correspondent Dave Thompson tells newsdakota.com that an announcement on those interested in running for governor may now be a few days away. Dalrymple will serve out his term which ends December 15th 2016.
