– Both Bellevue (Neb.) women’s and men’s golf teams led after the first round of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Conference Fall Golf Tournament, held at the Oxbox Golf Country Club.  The NSAA teams played Oxbow 1, which is a par 72 measuring 6,863 yards.

The teams played 18 holes Monday at Oxbox Country Club.  The tournament wraps up with another 18 holes on Tuesday.  The 36-hole scores will be combined with the results of a 36-hole Spring Qualifier to determine which team and individual represent the NSAA at the NAIA National Tournament.

Bellevue fired a team score of 312 to take a 19-shot lead over second-place Viterbo (Wis.) after the first round.  The V-Hawks scored a first round team total of 331, followed by Jamestown (N.D.) third with 341, Waldorf (Iowa) fourth with 349 and Valley City State (N.D.) with 392.

A pair of BU golfers holds the top two spots after the first round.  Karissa Moreland shot a 1-over part 73 to take the lead.  Her teammate – Renee Santoyo – is second with a score of 76.  Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo is third with 78, followed by Fernanda Valdes of Waldorf fourth with 79.

The Bruins hold a two-shot lead over second-place Viterbo in the men’s division.  BU registered a team score of 312 after the first round, while the V-Hawks scored 314.  Valley City State is third with 322, followed by Jamestown fourth with 327, Waldorf fifth with 331, Dickinson State sixth with 343 and Presentation (S.D.) seventh with 355.

Four golfers are tied for first after shooting a 3-over-par 75 in the first round.  The four golfers that are tied for first are Ryan Allen of Presentation, Juan Gomez and Diego Gudino of Bellevue and Kris Graewin of Viterbo.  Nolan Frank of Jamestown is fifth after recording a score of 77 in the first round.

The spring NSAA golf conference tournament will be held in Lincoln, Neb., hosted by Bellevue, on April 25-25, 2016.  The winner of the golf conference tournament in April 2016 will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Golf National Tournament.
