(NewsDakota.com) – The website WalletHub has released a study finding the nation’s most and least energy efficient states and North Dakota ranks near the bottom.

According to their report, the study was conducted to bring awareness to the impact of energy on the wallets of Americans to conserve more. The study looked at total residential energy consumption, vehicle miles and gasoline consumed.

The study found that North Dakota was the 42nd least energy efficient, scoring 41.64 out of 100. The state was 13th in Home Energy Efficiency and 48th in Car Energy Efficiency.

The top energy efficient state in the study was New York and the least efficient state was South Carolina. You can find the full study here.
