N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire Department was called out early Friday morning for a single family housing unit fire at around 5:30 AM.

The two-story house at 452 2nd Street SW reportedly had fire and smoke coming from the attic area. City Fire Chief Jim Ruether stated that most of the firefighting was done from the outside.

The fire caused extensive smoke damage to the house and water caused the roof to sag. The family was able to escape safely and have been displaced. No official cause has been found.

33 fire fighters and seven units were on scene for roughly two and a half hours. The fire remains under investigation.
