N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A crop that is not highly produced in the state is starting to gain interest from farmers across North Dakota.

Hops, which is primarily used as a flavoring and stability agent in beer, is being grown by a local couple in Stutsman County. Mike and Lindsay Ostlie own Ostlie Sunnyside Acres and produce a half acre of the crop. Mike is presenting information on hops production and the feasibility of it in the state.

Ostlie stated that interest in growing Hops is starting to grow in the state.

Ostlie is also a Research Agronomist with the Carrington Research Extension Center. His discussion on Hops will be free and open to the public during the Winter Ag & Construction Expo in Jamestown starting at 1:00 PM.
