CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liner boys basketball team continued their winning ways on Tuesday night, while the Hi-Liner girls basketball team is still seeking their first win of the season. 

Girls Game – FSH 86 VCHS 35

The Fargo South Bruins scored a season high 86 points, made 11 three-pointers and improved to 6-8 overall and 6-7 in the Eastern Dakota Conference. 

Maddie Erickson scored a game-high 23 points for the Bruins, Emily Stroup chipped in another 19 points for Fargo South as well. 

Taryn Dieterle and Tarryn Justesen scored 7 points apiece to lead Valley City (0-15 overall, 0-14 EDC). 

FSH: Erickson 23, Stroup 19, Roehrich 17, Green 14, Klein 6, DuBois 5, Aguilar 1, Steinke 1.

Boys Game – VCHS 80 FSH 71

The Valley City Hi-Liners improved to .500 in the Eastern Dakota Conference with a hard fought win over Fargo South. 

The Hi-Liners (8-7 overall, 7-7 EDC) took advantage of the free throw line where they made 27-36 as a team. 

Nate Rodriguez had a game-high 25 points and went 19-21 from the charity stripe, while Hunter Burchill added another 13 points for Valley City. 

Fargo South (2-12 overall, 1-12 EDC) were led by Brent Hovden with 22 points. 

VC: Rodriguez 25, Burchill 13, Ondracek 12, Nix 10, Eggermont 8, Zeltinger 6, Kvien 4, Manson 2. 

FSH: Hovden 22, Skiple 15, Johnson 11, Hagen 9, Pifer 5, Zozimo 5, Mendin 2, O’Keeffe 2. 

Valley City hosts Fargo Shanley on Friday night for their next contest. The boys game will tip-off at 5:45 p.m., with girls to follow at 7:30 p.m.

The No. 1-ranked Fargo Shanley Deacon girls basketball team will enter with a 57 consecutive game winning streak, which is currently tied for the Class A record.
