N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown is offering free tax preparation assistance for low-income and elderly taxpayers.

The IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program allows students to help during tax season. Volunteers are also trained to prepare tax returns for international students and handle tax treaties that may benefit these students.

All VITA volunteers have passed a series of certification exams and are bound by confidentiality agreements.

Both federal and state tax return help will be by appointment only from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays, February 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th on the University Campus. Interested individuals can call 701-253-4468 or email vita@uj.edu to set up an appointment.
