N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Giving Hearts Day has been set for February 11th and is being considered the “Largest Online Donation” for several area organizations.

The 24-hour online donating event benefits 9 organizations in the community by raising funds that will go to each individual cause. This will be the 9th year of the event in Jamestown. Karen Crane with the University of Jamestown stated that donations of $10 or more will be matched by the Dakota Medical Foundation.

One of the organizations will be a part of Giving Hearts Day for the first time this year. St. John’s Academy will be using donated funds to update curriculum and learning equipment for students. Development Coordinator Peggy Etzold stated that there is a $4,000 matching donation for the day as well for St. John’s.

Shelley Nannenga with Service Dogs for America stated that they were participating in Giving Hearts Day for the 3rd year. She stated that funds received will feed their 50 service dogs in training. She stated that donors need to consider who their helping when they donate to the organizations of their choice.

The event will be February 11th only and individuals will have 24 hours to donate to their choice. Organizations include the Anne Carlsen Center, Jamestown Regional Medical Center, St. John’s Academy, The Arts Center, American Heart Association, Freedom Resource Center, Service Dog’s for America, Salvation Army, and University of Jamestown.
