N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Governor Jack Dalyrmple’s recent announcement of budget cuts across the state has left some agencies and communities scrambling.

The cuts were announced following a more than $1 billion budget shortfall with the drop in oil drilling and low oil prices. Nearly all 73 state agencies will be subject to the cuts. Those unaffected include primarily the Bank of North Dakota and The Game & Fish Department.

The city of Jamestown will be feeling some of the effects from the budget cuts, but City Administrator Jeff Fuchs doesn’t believe they’ll be significant.

“I would anticipate that Jamestown will see some reduction in revenues received from the State based on the formulas as a percentage of state revenue. There’s no way of know what those reductions might be, but we don’t anticipate them having any significant impact on this year’s city budget.” Fuchs stated.

State agencies must submit their planned cuts by February 17th.
