(NewsDakota.com) – The No. 2 Magi raced out to a 23-point lead over Jamestown in the first half. However, the Magi would not end up running away with the game in the end. Jamestown clawed their way back to within six before halftime, but eventually fell 82-70.

Minot came out and immediately punched the Jays in the mouth. Jesse Roberts and company were making just about every shot they attempted. They missed just 13 times in the opening half as they built their 23-point lead. Roberts had 15 of his 19 in the first 18 minutes.

Jamestown coach Luke Anderson emptied his bench to try to find a spark. John Horgan had five quick points off the bench including a three-point play that started a 20-3 for the Blue Jays. Horgan started it, but it was the starters who came back rejuvenated to stabilize the game. Josh Schulz hit a pair of three-pointers in the run.

Minot took a 10-point lead into half after Jamestown pulled within six. Jamestown got as close as seven in the second half and almost had it to five when Jake Ruether missed a lay-up to close it down to five. Minot scored on consecutive possessions and was never seriously threatened again.

Jamestown is now 8-8 on the year and off until February 13th when they host Williston.
