CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Fargo Shanley Deacons have now won 58 consecutive games in girls basketball with their 94-39 win over Valley City on Friday night. 

Shanley started the game on a 15-2 run with 13:39 left to go in the first half, however the Hi-Liners would answer with a 9-0 run immediately afterwards to cut the lead 4 midway thru the half.

The Deacons responded by outscoring the Hi-Liners 36-8 to take a 49-19 lead at the half.

Sarah Jacobson scored a game-high 22 points for the Deacons (15-0 overall, 14-0 EDC), while Lauren Rotunda added 18 points.

The Hi-Liners (0-16 overall, 0-15 EDC) were paced by Kacie White with 7 points.

Fargo Shanley finished with 14 made three-pointers on the night and they now hold the Class A girls basketball record for consecutive wins.

Boys Game – Shanley 75 – Valley City 64

Fargo Shanley snapped the three-game winning streak of the Hi-Liners with their 75-64 win in Eastern Dakota Conference basketball on Friday night. 

Valley City had a 30-24 lead at halftime, but Shanley would outscore the Hi-Liners 51-34 in the second half to improve 10-5 overall and 9-5 in the EDC. 

Hunter Burchill scored a game-high 27 points for the Hi-Liners (8-8 overall, 7-8 EDC), while Shayne Dauenhauer led the Deacons with 20 points.

SHS: Dauenhauer 20, Kava 14, Saville 11, Wolfe 10, Klieman 8, Noack 6, Christmann 4, McKeever 2.

The Hi-Liners are back on the court on Tuesday night at Grand Forks Red River. Boys game will tip at 5:45 p.m., with the girls to follow at 7:30 p.m.
