N.D. (NewsDakota.com)  On Thursday night the Cardinals played the Rebels of Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier in both teams last District 5 game of the season, EKM won 61-57.  Going into the game, if Carrington would have won, the Rebels would have been the fourth seed going into the District 5 Tourney starting February, 26th in Jamestown, and Carrington would have been the three seed.  However, the Rebels held on for the victory last night, creating three teams with a 5-1 record in the district.  By margin of victory over Ellendale by 12 and losing to LLM by only five, EKM will be crowned as the regular season champs of District 5 and Carrington will be the fourth seed.  Ellendale will be the second seed and LaMoure/Litchvill-Marion will be the third seed, Oakes fifth, Barnes County North sixth and Midkota/Kensal seventh.

In last nights game, the Cardinals were down by as many as 12 points in the second half, but Bryce Edland and Garrett Bickett along with Freshmen Payton Smith would help the Cardinals pull within four in the fourth quarter. Four-year starter Connor Entzi came alive in the second half scoring 13 of his total 17 points to help the Rebels hang on and get the victory by four points.  Sophomore Lane Hanson came off the bench for EKM and dropped in 16, followed by Tanner Zahn with 14.  Bickett led all scorers with 19 for Carrington, including a 3-pointer which was his 31st of the year.  Shae Mehring fouled out early in the fourth quarter with 12 points, all in the first half.

Next up for Carrington will be a non-region match up in Fessenden against Harvey/Wells County, pregame will start about 7pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com on Tuesday, February 16th.
