JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After a large groundbreaking ceremony at the University of Jamestown, the real work begins.

The University of Jamestown is scheduled to break ground on the new $15 million Newman Arena on campus beginning May 9th. Tom Heck, Vice President for Planning and Administration at the University, stated that construction crews have begun mobilizing and will have fence up around the project beginning Monday, May 2nd.

Heck pointed out that not much in the way of a psychical building will be seen during the construction this summer, but that much work would begin to prepare the ground for support.

The new arena marks many other projects that the University expects to start this summer on campus. Heck says that coaches and players are excited to have an actual home court.

The estimated completion date for the new arena is August 2017.
