CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City High School Juniors and Seniors shared their stories of heartache following an hour long presentation known as the “Think N Drive” event held April 20th inside the Valley City high school theater.

After the presentation, Barb Bjorum who works for the City County Health office in Valley City asked students to fill out a survey that focused on several possible situations involving alcohol. The results are listed below.

I will abstain from alcohol until I am 21 46%
I will abstain from alcohol while in high school 52.80%
I will abstain from alcohol during sport(s) seasons 75.80%
I will not date anyone who tries to get me to drink 59.60%
I will not use during prom and graduation activities 75.80%
I will promise my parent(s) that I will not use during prom or graduation activities 72%
I will not drink and drive 95.70%
I will not ride with anyone who has been drinking 90.70%
I will not let my friends drive if they have been drinking 93.80%
I will not allow anyone to have alcohol in a vehicle I am driving 87.60%
I will not go to a party where alcohol is being consumed 57%
I will leave a party if I discover alcohol is being consumed 49.10%
I will inform my friends & dating partner that I want an alcohol-free prom and graduation 62.70%
I promise to call 911 if I think someone is in danger of overdosing on drugs and/or alcohol 86.30%
 
I would be less likely to use alcohol if an “80 hours back” test was available for my parents to use free of charge 35.40%
I would not use for fear of my parents using the “80 hour back” test 26.70%
