LAKE, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Devils Lake water is again flowing into the Sheyenne River to lower the big lake north of the Sheyenne River Valley.

Valley City Commissioner Mary Lee Nielson says the Devils Lake Outlet Committee agreed to lower the elevation of the lake to 1448. The lake is currently sitting 1450 feet.

Earlier this week the west end outlet began to release water at 250 cfs while the east end outlet starting releasing water at 150 cfs.

Sulfates are a concern for the water treatment plant in Valley City being higher sulfate levels released from the east end outlet drive up the cost of treating water.
