N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Buffalo City can now also be referred to as The Safest City in North Dakota.

The website BackgroundChecks.org is a public safety focused organization committed to increasing public safety, community involvement, transparent government and education. A recent study conducted by the website found the top five safest cities in the state.

Using FBI Crime reports, natural language analysis, social media sentiment and their own research data, the website compiled the list of safest cities. According to their findings, rates are normalized per 100,000 residents with the state average being 265 for violent crime and 2,110 for property crime.

Topping the list was Jamestown, with a violent crime rate of 203.1 and the chance of being involved in a property crime rate at just 2.6%. The next four safest cities in order are Dickinson, West Fargo, Minot and Mandan.
