N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – May 6 – 12 is National Nurses Week. This national healthcare observance honors nursing staff’s professional skills and abilities in providing ethical practice and quality care. Jamestown Regional Medical Center is taking this time to recognize and thank their nursing team.

“I would like to extend a special thanks to you, our nurses, as you continue to provide the highest level of quality care to your patients. You deserve special recognition for your efforts in delivering compassionate care while encompassing the principles of ethical practice in your profession,” said Trisha Jungels, Chief Nursing Officer at JRMC. “Thank you for being the difference!”

As a part of recognizing nursing excellence, Courtney Haag, registered nurse, received this year’s Nora Melvold Paulson Excellence in Leadership Award presented by JRMC Foundation on Wednesday, May 4th. Haag is a registered nurse on the Patient Care Unit at JRMC.

Haag’s peers shared that she has been “instrumental in the review, revision and organization of nursing policies and procedures. She has assisted in identifying evidence based resources and including them in our processes.” Haag also serves as a preceptor for new nurses and student nurses and is assisting in revising patient education at JRMC.

The Nora Melvold Paulson Excellence in Leadership Award fund was established by Brian and Nancy Spector to honor the memory and legacy of Brian’s grandmother, Nora Paulson, RN and her 20-plus years of service excellence in clinical care and nursing education at Jamestown Hospital, now Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

The fund provides an annual grant to a JRMC Registered Nurse identified by colleagues who consistently embodies a commitment to excellence in nursing education and clinical care. The award recipient also receives their name on a plaque which is displayed on the lower level near the education center at JRMC.
