N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After an initial meeting between Dr. Robert Badal with the University of Jamestown and members of Great River Energy, the idea for an Entrepreneur Center came to be.

Tena Lawrence, Vice President of Marketing & Communication at the University, stated that initial meeting prompted the question; Can the community of Jamestown use an Entrepreneur Center?

According to Lawrence, that first meeting brought forward 50 to 60 entrepreneurs from the community and surrounding areas.

The steering committee has since spent time visiting three other entrepreneur centers in the state, trying to determine what to bring to Jamestown. Project Manager with Great River Energy Rich Garmin is part of the committee.

The center would not be a part of GRE or the University. Lawrence stated that the center would have its own identity.

Garmin pointed out that with the busy Spiritwood Energy Park to the east of Jamestown, there is constant demand for innovation.

The steering committee has scheduled several socials this summer to gauge the interest of entrepreneur’s in the community and region.

The first social will be held May 17th at Sabirs from 5PM to 7PM, the second will be at the Quality Inn on June 2nd and the last will be at the North Dakota Farmers Union office on June 21st. You can contact Tena Lawrence for more information at 701-252-3462 ext. 5415.
