N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – During a meet and greet in Jamestown, gubernatorial hopeful Doug Burgum was asked what his thoughts were on the transgender issue in the state and nation.

Burgum spent his time informing Jamestown residents on how he felt on several issues in the state. One resident asked Burgum his thoughts on a more controversial and nationwide issue; Transgender rights.

Burgum praised current South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard for how he has handled the issue for their state.

Burgum stated that if he is elected governor, he’ll spend his time fixing the budget issues in the state. If he’s faced with the issue, he would suggest that it go to the public voters instead of making it a state or federal issue.

Burgum is facing Republican Wayne Stenejhem in the upcoming June primaries for the North Dakota Governor seat.
