CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Kindergarten and 1st grade students from Jefferson Elementary School visited Baldhill Dam and the Mel Rieman Recreation Area on May 24th.

The students took part in “Kids to Parks Day”sponsored by the National Park Trust. Local teachers wrote a grant for funds to visit the park. This was the only grant awarded in North Dakota.

Students planted trees, hiked trails, walked across Baldhill Dam, learned about water safety, how a dam works and enjoyed a picnic lunch and playground fun.

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers facilitated the experience for the students during their fun day at Baldhill Dam and the Mel Rieman Recreation Center .
