N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department has filed their final report regarding the train and wheelchair collision that occurred late in April this year.

60 year-old Dennis Schneider of Jamestown was attempting to cross the railroad tracks when one of his wheels became stuck in the tracks. He was struck a short time later by a slow-moving westbound BNSF train.

The report says the train’s engineer saw Schneider and hit the emergency brakes while sounding his warning horn. The train slowed from 35 mph to 10 mph before its front end struck Schneider, throwing him from the wheelchair.

Schneider was conscious when emergency crews arrived on scene. He was airlifted to a Fargo Hospital and is now currently recovering at a Valley City Hospital. You can find links below with stories leading up to the final report.
