N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Carrington Post 25 Legion Baseball team kicked off their 2016 campaign on the road at Northern Cass High School on Wednesday afternoon for a double header with fellow Central Region team the Gardner Express Post 132.  The first game, Carrington won 12-1.  The second game was called after five innings due to darkness, Gardner won 7-5.  Both teams are 1-1 in the Central Region and 1-1 overall.   

Easton Paeper hit a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning and Brett Lyman hit a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to help Post 25 roll past Post 132 in the first game.  Lyman was 2-for-4 including two RBI, Paeper was 3-for-5 with five RBI, scored two runs and two singles.  Lyman was also the winning pitcher, working all seven innings with nine strikeouts, one walk and allowed nine hits and one run.  Nick Nelson was the losing pitcher, working five innings, seven runs and nine hits.  Hunter Ward worked in relief for two innings for the Gardner Express.  Dawson Hayden was 2-for-4 at the plate for Gardner with two singles and scored a run.  Brady Smith for Carrington had a hot bat as well, going 2-for-5 with a double and knocking in three runs.    

Carrington Post 25 was down 7-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning in the second game last night, they would score two runs to close the gap to 7-5, but the game was called after a fly ball third-out off the bat of Braxton Hewitt, due to darkness.  The time was nearing 9:30pm and there were no lights at the field.  Dawson Hayden worked all five innings and picked up the win, Easton Paeper was the losing pitcher working in relief of Braxton Hewitt for two innings.  Brennan Thompson was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Express with a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning and scored three runs.  Connor Wendel went 3-for-3 for Post 25, he had six hits total in the two games, including one double and five singles.

Next up for Post 25 will be a non-region game against Harvey on Wednesday, June 15th at Carrington City Park, pregame will start about 4:45pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com, first pitch at 5pm.  A seven and a five inning game are scheduled, KDAK will cover just the seven inning game.
