CITY, ND (NEWSDAKOTA.COM)- Valley City State University hosted a farewell party for men’s basketball Jeff Kaminsky Monday in the Student Center Cafeteria. Coach Kaminsky accepted a position at Wayne State College.Kaminsky has been the head men’s basketball coach at VCSU for the past 11 seasons.  VCSU went 22-11 last season, advanced to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament, and ended the year ranked No. 21 in the nation.

During Kaminsky’s tenure, the Vikings won two conference championships and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament twice. VCSU’s first national tournament appearance under Kaminsky in 2013 ended a 25-year drought and was the fourth appearance in program history. This past season, the Vikings won their first round game at nationals for the second time.
