(NEWSDAKOTA.COM)-Valley City Post 60 held on beat Beulah 7-5 on day 4 of The Class A State Legion Baseball Tournament and now finds themselves  in the driver’s seat going into Sunday’s Championship Game.  Post 60 trailed for the 1st time in the tournament when Beulah opened scoring with 2 runs in the 2nd inning. They added another in the top of the 3rd when Valley City answered in the bottom half of the inning. Dalton Ondracek led off with a double and Jesse Johnson was hit by a pitch to put runners on for Nate Rodriguez. He sent the first pitch he saw from Derek Ferebee over the left field fence to tie the game at 3. Later in the inning Drew Oberlander and Alex Milander reached base and a balk allowed  Oberlander to score  giving Post 60 the 4-3 lead.

After Beulah found the tying run in the 5th Sam Jenson came up with runners at 2nd and 3rd  in the  home half of the inning and brought home both runners with a double to  regaining a 6-4 advantage. Dawson Dietrich had a 2 out RBI double to score an insurance run in the 6th.  The 1st 2 runners reached for Beulah in the top of the 7th and Aaron Vallejo got a run back with a double. Rylee Bjork was brought in to record the final 2 outs and got the save to preserve the win for Valley City.

Starter Dalton Ondracek went 3 innings and got a no decision. Jenson was the winning pitcher. Post 60 had 9 hits in the game. Valley City is still undefeated in the state tournament and will play Wahpeton Sunday at 2pm Central. Post 20 beat Bismarck 4-2 earlier in the afternoon. A win for Post 60 clinches the state champion while a loss will force another game for the title.
