ND – (NewsDakota.com) A busy day for emergency crews in Barnes County as two semi’s crashed on I-94 during a fierce storm.

A semi rolled on to its side east of Sanborn today after a quick moving storm with wind gusts of 70 mph and hail caused white out conditions for drivers this morning on Interstate 94 between Valley City and Jamestown.

Barnes County Chief Deputy Don Fibiger says the driver of the semi suffered a non-life threatening injury in the crash around 7:25am this morning near mile marker 278.

The second semi carrying anhydrous ammonia turned on its side in the eastbound lane of I-94 near Oriska shortly after 8am today near mile marker 301.

Authorities say two people were extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. Their condition has not been released.

Barnes County Fire and Rescue officials say the anhydrous tanks did not rupture and came to rest in the south ditch.

However, the diesel fuel tanks ruptured and spilled in the south ditch along the interstate. A Haz Mat crew will clean up the diesel fuel.
