CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Its official, Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson is keeping his job indefinitely after the city commission had an open discussion about the topic at their regular meeting this week.

Thompson submitted his resignation in October of 2015. He told the commission why he did that and why he rescinded his resignation.

City Commissioner Mike Bishop says several people in the community wanted some clarification on his decision to stay.

Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph said Thompson’s leadership has brought the Valley City Police Department stability and professionalism.

The Valley City Commission voted to keep Thompson on the job with a 4-0 vote on Tuesday, August 16th.
