Ann Buerkle, 70, died Monday morning, August 22, 2016 at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston, ND.

Caryn Stromstad was born June 10, 1946 at Crookston, MN, the daughter of J. Melvin Stromstad and Ruth Lila (Haugo) Stromstad. She grew up in Beltrami, MN attending Beltrami Public School and moved to Fertile, MN where she graduated from Fertile High School. She then attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND.

She and Elroy Buerkle were married September 9, 1967 at Fargo, ND. They made their home in Fargo until the 1970s when they moved to Columbus, ND and finally in Lignite, ND. She loved her flowers and plants; she could grow anything. Caryn Loved her babies/dolls which reminded her of her grandkids who couldn’t ask for a better grandma. She’d bake with them and sit down to have tea parties and loved walking to the store with them along with the dogs.

Her biggest joy was her puppies, we would always joke that their dogs were always treated better than we were. She was a fantastic musician/singer playing countless times at church and other events. Painting was also a hobby, coming up with the best Valentine’s Day boxes. She never wanted to look like an ‘old lady’ either, the flashier the better.

She was the hardest working woman I’ve ever known, which when looking back I’m not sure how she managed it all. Our parents always had the biggest yards and the most trees, we can attest to that; they used to say why have a riding lawn mower when you have kids. She was a very strong and courageous woman; Dwight even got her to ride a wheelie on a dirt bike. She was our back bone.

Caryn is survived by 2 children, Dwight (Brenda) Buerkle and Cheri (Greg) Hoglund, both of Williston, ND; 5 grandchildren, and 4 sisters, Beulah Smith, Burien, WA, LaVerne Sondrol, Pheonix, AZ, Janice Lindberg, Hutschinson, MN, and Rita Stromstad, Granite Falls, MN. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Elroy, and her parents.
