VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Valley City couple who left North Dakota to help volunteer in Louisiana earlier this month have returned.

Paul and Barb Henke volunteer with the American Red Cross Association and left August 16th to assist those in Louisiana affected by the flooding. Barb stated that when they heard there was assistance needed down South, she and Paul were ready.

Paul and Barb helped feed people in the more devastated areas in Louisiana. Twice a day, they would take prepared food and deliver them to individuals in need. Barb stated that the sights she and Paul saw reminded them of Grand Forks when flooding occurred in 1997.

Barb reported that the resilience of the area residents was astounding.

Paul and Barb are also no strangers volunteering and traveling to areas in need with the American Red Cross Association.

Barb stated that those who want to help should donate to their American Red Cross Association so that they may continue to provide needed help to those in Louisiana. She said volunteering efforts will more than likely continue there for the next several months.
