Franklin, Jr., age 67, of Sanborn, ND died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Minneapolis, MN.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Monday, October 3, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND with Rev. Joseph Barrett celebrant.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at Sacred Heart Church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Sanborn, ND.

Lyle Arthur Franklin, Jr. was born June 20, 1949 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND, the son of Lyle and Catherine (Diemert) Franklin.  He grew up at Sanborn, ND and graduated from Sanborn High School.  He then attended Valley City State University.  On June 26, 1970 he married Julie Baumann in Valley City, ND.  Lyle farmed his entire life and raised cows (they were more pets than cattle, each having their own name).  Lyle worked on area farms before he began farming on his own.  He enjoyed fishing but his favorite pastime was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and most recently with a great grandchild.  Lyle also served on the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Julie (Baumann) Franklin; his children Todd Franklin and Troy (Kimberly) Franklin, all of Sanborn, ND; his grandchildren Samantha, McKayla, Jaime, Landon, Sydney, and Hunter Franklin; his great-grandchild, Colton; his Catherine Franklin, Valley City, ND; and sisters Karen Sauer, Jamestown, ND, and his twin Louise Max, also of Jamestown, ND.  Lyle is also survived by his dog Butter and his cattle.  He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Franklin, Sr., and brothers-in-law Melvin Max, JonJon Blotske, and Steve Marcotte.
