N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Several family members and friends of the late James A. (Jim) Carlascio gathered on 1st Street West to dedicate the west-end bridge in his name.

Dwaine Heinrich began the ceremony with the Pledge of Allegiance and welcomed everyone to the dedication. Mayor Katie Andersen was the first to give her thoughts on the dedication of the bridge to Carlascio. She stated that in a world that’s constantly connected digitally, it’s important that we remain connected physically as well.

Mark Klose, Chairman of the Stutsman County Commission, stated that the decision to dedicate the bridge after Jim was unanimous and quickly agreed upon.

Former Mayor and Councilman Charlie Kourajian gave his experiences working with Jim that shaped parts of Jamestown to be the way they are today, especially the bridge on 1st Street West.

Jim’s son Mark Carlascio also gave some words on his father and the work he did in Jamestown.

At the end of the memorial service and dedication ceremony, Mark commented on how fitting it was to have all of Jim’s friends and family together to remember him and the services he provided for Jamestown.

Jim was a World War II US Army Combat Veteran in North Africa and Europe, Railway Conductor and dedicated community leader. He died at the age of 88 on July 11th, 2013.
