CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Corporate farming, healthcare issues and how to spend taxpayer money properly were just some of the topics covered during the North Dakota District 24 Legislative candidate forum in Valley City on October 11th.

District 24 state senate (Democrat) incumbent Larry Robinson and his (Republican) challenger Eldred Knutson told the audience that they are against corporate farming and support the current laws in place to protect the family farming tradition in North Dakota.

District 24 state representative candidates split along party lines over the issue of corporate farming. Incumbent representative (Republican) Dwight Kiefert and (Republican) challenger Daniel Johnston both believe the current corporate farming laws should be relaxed to allow the dairy and swine industry to expand in North Dakota like it has in South Dakota after that state relaxed the law.

But District 24 state representative incumbent (Democrat) Naomi Muscha and (Democrat) challenger Sharon Buhr believe the current anti-corporate farming laws should remain in place after more than 70 percent of North Dakota residents voted to keep the current law during the June election.
