CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Barnes County voters will have to vote up or down on a countywide measure that asks voters to raise the current 9-1-1 fee of .00 per phone line to .50 per line in the November 8th general election.

Barnes County Emergency manager Sue Lloyd told reporter Steve Urness that the current 9-1-1 equipment in the Barnes County Dispatch Center is reaching end of life and needs to be replaced.

Lloyd said 4 years ago, Barnes County joined a joint powers agreement with Stutsman and Richland County to save money on equipment. She said this has helped, but funding for this type of expense has been cut.
