N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Medical Center is celebrating Breast Health Awareness month this October and they’re also pushing for more action.

The JRMC was the first hospital in North Dakota to receive the 3D Mammography technology in 2015. The technology makes it possible for individuals to be diagnosed earlier than they would have been with the 2D technology. Radiology Manager Diane Nelson says the main focus of their services is making it accessible to the community.

Nelson says the statistics that are currently out there regarding mammograms in the U.S. are cause for concern.

Marketing Manager Katie Ryan-Anderson stated that even some of the statistics locally involving cancers screenings were alarming.

Nelson and Ryan-Anderson pointed out that most medical insurance plans cover the screenings. Individuals that are 35 years of age or older are encouraged to start getting screened. Ryan-Anderson also stated that the “No Excuses” program would provide screenings for those who couldn’t afford or have health insurance.
