N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce will be holding a luncheon this October to inform business owners and residents of the new federal overtime provisions.

According to the new law, which is contained in the Fair Labor Standards Act, employees covered must receive overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek at a rate not less that time and one-half their regular rates of pay. Executive Director Becky Thatcher-Keller says the new law will affect the area’s businesses and employees.

A luncheon will be hosted by the chamber on Tuesday, October 25th that will feature more information on the new law, which is slated to begin December 1st, 2016.
