CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City School Board approved of moving forward with the city of Valley City to work on a memorandum of understanding concerning the position of a School Resource Officer during their regular board meeting on October 19th.  

Superintendent Josh Johnson said while the “official” agreement has yet to be signed we are confident that this position will move forward and we are expecting the SRO to starting working in the school district by January 1st.

Johnson believes, “the position will have a positive impact on our schools and the community of Valley City.” 

Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson said the department has one officer ready to take the position. He also talked about one of the many benefits of having a School Resource Officer with NewsDakota.com reporter Steve Urness.
