CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) City-County Health District of Valley City will be conducting a Point of Dispensing exercise Wednesday, October 26 from 5p.m to 7 p.m. in the Hi Liner Activity Center giving flu shots to area residents.

Point of Dispensing (POD) emergency drills have been traditionally used to distribute necessary vaccines or medicine to a large number of people in a short amount of time during an emergency situation.

This exercise is being utilized to allow CCHD staff to practice policies and procedures in the event of a real emergency and to practice critical skills.

Fill out a Vaccine Administration Record (the form normally filled out at CCHD for any vaccine, Show your form to POD staff for review, Turn in your form and receive your shot.

CCHD is providing flu shots as a direct service, which fits with the prevention of disease approach utilized by public health. Flu shots are generally covered by most major insurance companies, however, check with your provider if you’re not sure about your coverage or you could be billed for your shot.

The price for flu shots at the POD site (if uninsured) will be $49 for a regular quadrivalent (four strain) flu shot, and $69 for a high dose flu shot for people age 65 and older.
