N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The M-P-B Thunder knocked off the last undefeated volleyball team in 5 sets, handing Carrington its only loss of the regular season (25-21, 25-19, 13-25, 17-25, 15-13). Both Carrington and M-P-B will enter postseason play with 1 loss and have each other their only regular season losses. Carrington defeated M-P-B 3 weeks ago in the championship match of the Carrington tournament 2-0.

The Thunder jumped out quickly picking up a 2-0 lead before Carrington stormed back winning sets 3 and 4 before M-P-B finished off the Cards 15-13 to capture the match in front of a packed Pingree high school gymnasium. M-P-B were led by Halle Uehran (17 kills & 3 stuff blocks), Megan Moser (17 kills), and Taylor Sabinash (16 kills & 4 stuff blocks). The trio combined for 50 of the teams 59 kills. Starting setter Joey Kleinsasser picked up her 1,oooth career assist in the first set but exited the match after the second set due to an injury. The Thunder were 85 of 94 from the service line good for 90 percent on the night.

Carrington was led again by Maara Nelson’s match high 19 kills and teammate Carmen Pederson added a match high 8 stuff blocks and 8 aces. Pederson also added 9 kills for the Cards. Emerson Hoornaert added 10 kills for Carrington. Carrington finished the night connecting on 98 of 102 serves good for 96 percent. Carrington will enter District 5 play on Thursday with a 30-1 overall record and will be the number 1 seed playing at 3:00 versus L-M-M. The District 5 tourney will be played in Lamoure. M-P-B will take a 27-1 overall record into the District 6 tourney and the number 1 seed.
