ND – (NewsDakota.com) Cassidy Rasmusson of Lisbon, North Dakota was crowned Miss Rodeo North Dakota 2017 during the championship round of the Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo hosted by the Minot Y’s Men on October 9th.

Rasmusson competed in the state pageant as Miss Rodeo North Dakota Winter Show, representing the annual event held in Valley City.

Miss Rodeo North Dakota Pageant Board member Ellen Huber said Rasmusson earned top honors in the pageant’s horsemanship and appearance categories plus was voted the congeniality winner.
 
Rasmusson, 20, is a sophomore honor student at North Dakota State University majoring in agricultural education. She is active in the NDSU Saddle and Sirloin Club and previously helped lead the Lisbon FFA Chapter to a state championship in FFA horse judging team. She earned a gold ranking as the 11th place high individual at the National FFA Horse Evaluation Contest. Rasmusson has previously served as a rodeo queen for the Fort Ransom Arena Association, Ransom County Fair, Hankinson Sand Hills Saddle Club, and Sargent County. She has also been involved in team penning, horse shows, basketball, track and choir. Her parents are Todd and Norma Rasmusson.
 
Huber said the first runner-up in the pageant and winner of the personality division was Ashley Bateman of New Salem serving as Miss Rodeo Mandan. Bateman also earned the speech, written test, photogenic and scrapbook prizes as well as the Cowgirl Spirit Award given in memory of Minot Y’s Men Rodeo Committee member Paul Christensen.
 
Among many prizes that Rasmusson wins as Miss Rodeo North Dakota 2017 are a trophy saddle sponsored Northern Plains Equipment, Mandan; a trophy buckle sponsored by Milt’s Building Supply, Elgin; a jacket from Hensen’s Fur and Leather, Minot, and autograph sheets and print material by Image Printing, Bismarck.
 
Rasmusson will succeed Miss Rodeo North Dakota 2016 Megan Haag, Fredonia. Haag will compete in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant to be held Nov. 27-Dec. 4, during the Wrangler Nationals Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Rasmusson begins her official term of service in 2017 and will represent North Dakota at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant next year.
 
Miss Rodeo North Dakota promotes and assists with rodeos and other events throughout North Dakota and serves as an ambassador at numerous rodeos throughout the country.
