(NewsDakota.com) It will be a rematch of the 2016 North Dakota Class B District 5 Championship on Thursday night when Carrington and LaMoure meet for the Region III title; but with a lot more at stake.

Carrington def. South Border 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-22)

After a slow start in the first set, the Cardinals won the next three to punch their ticket to the Region III Championship.

The Cardinal’s Maara Nelson had a team high 22 kills, while Abigail Jarrett had 35 assists. Morgan Schanbel lead the Mustangs with 16 kills and two blocks

LaMoure def. Oakes 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-19)

Anna Holen had yet another outstanding outing for the Loboes, with 18 kills and 17 digs. Jackie Meiklejohn had a team high 35 assists.

Oakes had Shelby Roney lead her squad with six kills. Sadie Hansen had a team high 18 assists and two aces.

Thursday’s play commences at 6 p.m. with the third place game featuring South Border and Oakes. 25 minutes later, the Cardinals and Loboes will meet, with the winner advancing to the State Class B Tournament next week.
