Hi-Liners Drop EDC Opener 3-0 to Shanley

(NewsDakota.com)- Shanley swept Valley City in the opening round of The EDC Volleyball Tournament 25-19, 25-13, 25-18. The Hi-Liners 4 match winning streak comes to end while The Deacons win their 7th straight. The tournament will move to the campus of NDSCS with Valley City facing elimination.  

Game 1 featured 8 ties and 4 lead changes, the score was knotted at 14 when the Deacons  finished the set on a 11-5 run to grab the set 25-19. Shanley jumped out to a 4 point lead in the 2nd set and once they pushed their advantage to double figures, The Hi-Liners could get no closer then 9 in a 25-13 loss. In the final set The Deacons again used a scoring streak to take the set 25-18 and win the match.

Valley City plays Sheyenne Friday in the consolation semifinals. The Mustangs lost to Fargo North 3-0. Match will begin around 3:30. You can hear all the action on KOVC and Newsdakota.com
