N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Salvation Army is in desperate need of volunteer bell ringers this holiday season.

The Red Kettle Campaign is the Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser and helps assist them with their programs for the entirety of the following year. Major Tim Nauta says a simple two hour shift ringing the bell could help feed a family of five.

The Salvation Army has set their goal at $157,000 this year. Major Nauta stated that 2017 will mark 120 years of the Salvation Army in the community.

Money raised will help the organization with their housing assistance along with many other programs. Major Nauta pointed out that major support is needed in order for the Salvation Army to continue in the community. He says some organizations have had to leave communities due to poor support.

Interested individuals or groups that want to ring bells are encouraged to go to registertoring.com to sign up, or call the Jamestown Salvation Army at 701-252-0290. Bell ringing continues through December 24th.
