N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota Department of Transportation crews and North Dakota Highway Patrolmen spent a majority of Wednesday night searching for vehicles stranded in the blizzard.

Parts of Highway 281, Highway 200 and Highway 52 remain closed to motorists Thursday morning and are expected to be closed for the rest of today. Sgt. Tom Herzig with the North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that 40 to 50 vehicles were stranded Wednesday night.

Herzig says a majority of the stranded vehicles did not have people in them.

Sgt. Herzig reports that the process will begin again today with NDDOT crews clearing the roadway, removing stranded vehicles along the way. He stated that as far as I-94 is concerned, several citations were given out to those who tried to travel on the closed roadway Wednesday.
