N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are encouraging area residents to bring their pets inside this winter.

According to a release, PETA receives thousands of complaints about people leaving their animals outside in the cold.

“Cold temperatures and inclement weather spell extra hardship for “backyard dogs,” who often go without adequate food, water, shelter, or veterinary care,” they state in a release.

PETA reports that they are working with law enforcement officials across the country to get charges filed against people who leave their animals outside during the winter months.
